for service selection, coming from ROTC, what is the likeliness of me making it into BUD/S to go Navy SEAL?
What I really would like to know is that if I am not competitive enough to get into BUD/S by the time I have to take the required tests for admission, what are the chances that I would be deferred to my second or third choice of Aviation or NFO? If I did not get first choice of Special Warfare, would the Navy automatically just put me in a SWO or sub nuke spot? I understand that BUD/S is a highly competitive program to get into for officers, and there are limited spots open each year.
You have to apply for Aviation while srill a junior in college.
If you wait till graduation, then its already to late.
Sub Officers are chosen while in college, they have math or physics degrees. You don’t just put subs as a branch assignment while in NRTOC.
Your chances of getting into Bud/s are slim, NROTC has a Seal Challange unit, participating in it, would increase your chances.
But more than likely, your gonna go to the fleet as a Surface Warfare officer.
